Bringing the Flavors of the Philippines to Chicago
Named after Cebu in the Philippines, the family-owned restaurant was created to introduce Chicago diners to the Filipino flavors its founders grew up with. Since first opening in 2019, Cebu has built its identity around regional Filipino cooking while finding creative ways to bring those flavors into a modern dining experience. For Cebu Chicago, food is more than what’s on the plate—it’s a way to share family, culture, and a taste of home.
Creativity Rooted in Tradition
Today, Cebu's Lakeview restaurant serves everything from traditional favorites like lumpia, sisig, chicken inasal, and slow-roasted Cebu lechon to playful brunch creations featuring distinctly Filipino flavors such as ube and pandan.

Reimagining a Filipino Classic
Rice flour is at the heart of traditional bibingka, a Filipino rice cake commonly baked with banana leaves. Cebu uses Mochi Foods Mochi Pancake Mix to give the classic its own modern interpretation.
The result connects Filipino tradition with the signature chewy texture of mochi — showing that the mix can go far beyond pancakes.
Mochi Pancakes Are Only the Beginning.
From ube and pandan pancakes to modern bibingka, Cebu demonstrates how one Mochi Foods mix can become an entirely different experience in the hands of a creative chef.
“Mochi Foods provides the canvas.Restaurants like Cebu show us what's possible with it.”
What we love most about Cebu is the same thing that inspires us at Mochi Foods: taking flavors rooted in Asian culture and tradition and finding new ways to introduce them to more people.
We're proud to have Cebu Chicago as part of the Mochi Foods family and to support chefs and restaurant owners who continue pushing Asian-inspired food forward.
