About Mochi Foods
Mochi Foods Hawaii’s award-winning mixes are used by renowned executive and pastry chefs throughout the U.S. and around the world. Our pre-mix products can be used on their own or as the base for exclusive Mochi signature creations.
All of the Mochi Foods Hawaii products have the unique mochi taste and Q texture that were developed by an acclaimed team of Taiwanese food scientists. The “Q” Factor is Taiwan’s version of the Italian al dente, representing the perfectly calibrated “mouth feel,” sought after and craved by savvy bakers, chefs and diners.
Each of Mochi Foods Hawaii’s product lines has been developed by sourcing the best ingredients (including #16 rice) that are processed by combining traditional recipes with innovative microscopic and macroscopic methodologies to arrive at the perfect taste and soft, springy texture, which are modified for each mix category.
Mochi Foods’ unique, chewy texture and flavors are now available in bread, donut, pancake, waffle and bubble waffle mix. These products uphold the high standards of authenticity and quality that Mochi Foods Hawaii is known for.
Meet Our Executive Team!
Pei Wu moved to Hawaii from Taiwan 30 years ago to attend UH Manoa, eventually graduating from the Oriental Medical Institute as an acupuncturist. Since then she has made a huge impact on the confectionery industry in Hawaii. Always innovating and developing high-quality food products, she has created strong fan-bases among her customers. Over the past 22 years, Wu has used her passion for creating foods with innovative tastes and textures to start a variety of confectionary projects culminating in launching her primary business, Mochi Foods Hawaii.
Wu spent her first 12 years in the industry innovating and expanding the range of options at Waiola Shave Ice. Through her efforts, it is recognized as one of the top shave ice locations on Oahu. This gave her the opportunity to invent different flavor and texture combinations and to hone in on the East meets West food philosophy that has continued to influence her businesses through the years. In 2010, Wu left Waiola Shave Ice to start Candy Incredible, a candy and snack brokerage company that also creates specialty gift baskets and candy lei for seasonal holidays and celebrations. In 2016, she expanded to open Mochi Foods Hawaii as a way to bring more of the Taiwanese delights she grew up with to Hawaii.
